      American Idol winner Jordin Sparks surprisingly had a disappointing turnout as her album, “Jordin Sparks”, failed to make the charts. Critics say that the best news is that nobody’s trying to mold her into a fly ho or a torchy diva. The most popular songs on this CD are “Tattoo” and “This is My Now” which was her winning song on the show. Many of the songs on this CD are very disappointing to listeners. Not only do they lack interest melodically, but lyric wise too. Fans are wanting and waiting to her what earned her the title of American Idol.

 

 

 

Movie Review

 

Awake

      Awake is a suspense filled thriller about a common occurrence called “anesthetic awareness.” Patients going through this horrible experience are able to hear and feel everything happening to them during surgeries, but they are paralyzed and can not make any reactions. The main character, played by Hayden Christianson, undergoes this terrible phenomenon and besides being in immense pain, he goes through a dramatic night leaving his social life and personal life in shambles. 

 

     This is a must see movie. It will leave you on the edges of your seats and wanting more. Along with the heartache and untrustworthiness, Christianson must decide how he is going to not only make it out of surgery alive, but how he will live the rest of his life having to watch his own back every second of every day.

 

 

I Am Legend

    “I Am Legend” is a post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film based on the famous novel by Richard Matheson.  Starring Will Smith, this film hit the box office on December 14th.  In the movie, virologist Robert Neville (Smith) believes he is the last healthy human on earth.  The rest of the human population has either died or transformed into UV sensitive mutants.  It’s Neville’s job to find the cure for these mutants, and throughout the course of the movie, he tries to do so.  The film is rated PG-13, and isn’t suitable for children.  As for older members of the family, this movie is a real eye opener.  It’s very jumpy, however, so beware.  Otherwise, it’s a must see.

 

Book Review

 

 The Lies of Locke Lamora -- Scott Lynch

     One of Scott Lynch’s novels “The Lies of Locke Lamora”, the first of seven in the series, starts off in the great city of Camorr. Locke Lamora, Jean Tannen, Bug, Calo and Galdo (Sansa twins), and Sabetha (Who is never seen, in this novel, for some unknown reason) are the main characters. Locke Lamora, THE main character, is a skills thief known as The Thorn of Camorr. He can speak any language, disguise himself to look like someone else entirely, and steal from a person with persuasion instead of force or even the victims knowing that they are getting stolen from. Jean Tannen, the brute, is the fighter of the group. He uses a pair of hatchets as his choice weapon that he has names The Wicked Sisters. Bug, the mole, can sneak anywhere without getting caught or seen. The Sansa twins, Calo and Galdo, are the tricksters. They can cheat any game known to man their specialty being card games… They don’t lose. Sabetha is a character never seen and rarely talk about between the group. She is apparently just as skilled as Locke, in all aspects, but is supposedly on an important mission elsewhere. Also, Locke is in love with Sabetha. All in all, “The Lies of Locke Lamora” is the life of extraordinary thieves and the prices they pay for being superior. I recommend “The Lies of Locke Lamora” and, the only other book out in the series at the moment, “Red Seas Under Red Skies” to anyone who likes Fiction, Action, Adventure, Suspense, Fighting, or just the thrill of reading a wonderful book.
