The After School Program

by Logan F. and Taylor

First in the after school program we go outside for forty-five minutes. Then we go to a classroom and do homework. You can also get help with your hoomework. If you finish your homework before five o'clock when it's over you get to play board games.

The after school program is funded by the Leon County Youth Coalition. There are about sixty kids in the after school program. The idea of the after school program is to give kids a safe place to do their homework and have fun with friends in the afternoon.

On October 25, the after school program had a silly Olympics. Their teachers prepared it. You had to grab a spoon, balance a ball on the spoon, and go around a cone. Each team had an even amount of people. Then you had to work together to carry a ball in between two batter stirring spoons and go around the cone with a partner. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot about teamwork and being good sports.

Fundraising Bonanza

by Nathan T.

Thanks to the help of the BES students, we made a whopping $7400 with our fundraiser! If there is one person we can thank, it's Matthew G. He made $316 of the school's profit, and he sold 77 items! Mason C. made about $200 and sold 53 items. Dalton C. made about $200, too, and sold 48 items. These three top sellers worked hard, but sadly, they didn't break the record for the most items. The record is 212 items sold. We can also thank Mrs. Mormon's class because they were the top class in selling.

After we had fun fundraising, we had even more fun throwing pies at Mr. Edens and grabbing money in the money machine! The money machine is what you get to go into and grab all of the money you can. The only way to go in the money machine is if you sold 15 or more items. Top selling students from each grade level got the pleasure of throwing pies at Mr. E. When they were done, he looked like a pie himself!
